Biography - Jerome Aarts

BIOGRAPHY

Jerome Aarts was born in Waalwijk, in the South of Holland. At the age of ten, he took both acting, singing and dance lessons. In 1989 he  appeared in Kinderen voor Kinderen 10 Festival, a popular Dutch TV programme.
In addition, he appeared in several acting and musical theatre productions. He studied for one year at the Drama Academy in Kampen.  After passing his exams, Jerome performed  full-time at the amusement park  De Efteling.

He continued his studies at the  MusicAllFactory  in Tilburg, where he played the lead in several musical theatre showcases, including  Emcee in Cabaret   and Von Krolock  in Tanz der Vampire. Completing this study, Jerome was accepted to Fontys Brabants Conservatoire for Musical Theatre, were he produced his first solo project  En dan… is er Taart !,  which was well received by the press. Then he toured with the musical revue The Sound of MusicaL, and played the role of  Scarecrow in the musical The Wiz.

In 2000, Jerome's big dream came true when he landed the part of first cover Rudolf  in the major hit musical Elisabeth, produced by Joop van den Ende Theater Productions. Next he performed as Priest in the world premiere of the musical Grace in Amsterdam, where he had the fortunate opportunity to collaborate with award-winning composer Cy Coleman.

In 2002 he graduated from conservatoire, and presented his second solo-project I’ll be watching you !.

During the International Musical Congress in Hamburg he preformed in the showcase Songs of Alexander S. Bermange. While he was traveling through Australia, he preformed in a musical theatre concert of the Australian Institute of Music  in Sydney, with the Dutch singer / actress  Sophie van Haaps.

He has recently  appeared as first cover Rolf in the Rodgers &  Hammerstein  musical classic,  The Sound of Music  produced by Joop van den Ende Theatre Productions,  which toured through Holland and Belgium.

Jerome made his West End debut in september 2004 in 'The Phantom of the Opera' at the "Her majesty's Theatre" where he also played the part of Raoul on several occasions. Which made him well known by the Dutch press and he even appeared on the Dutch
national television in the acclaimed talkshow 'Barend en van Dorp'.

After finishing he engagement with "Phantom", he has recently appeared in "Les Miserables Charity Concert" at "The Festival Hall". Also he performed as soloist in "YES, a tribute to Kander and Ebb" at "The Jermyn street Theatre", West End.

Jerome is now very excited to appear in 'Happily ever After' a 'one night only' Stephen Sondheim celebration at "The Fortune Theatre", West End.

BIOGRAFIE

Jeroen Aarts  werd  geboren  in  Waalwijk,  in  het  zuiden  van Nederland. Vanaf zijn tiende levensjaar nam hij veelvuldig zang-,  toneel-  en danslessen. Zijn televisie debuut maakt hij in 1989 als solist in het populaire kinder-programma  Kinderen voor Kinderen 10 Festival.

Hierna verscheen hij in vele amateur en semi-professionele toneel- en musicalprodukties.  Hij studeerde aan de Academie voor Drama te Kampen, welke hij verliet na het behalen van zijn propedeuse, om vervolgens 1 jaar fulltime te werken als improvisatie-acteur in familiepark  De Efteling.  Hij vervolgde zijn studie aan de MusicAllFactory in Tilburg, waarin hij grote rollen vertolkte in de concertante versies van  Tanz der Vampire  als Von Krolock en  Cabaret  als Emcee Tijdens zijn studie aan Fontys Brabants Conservatorium, musicaltheater produceerde hij zijn eerste solo-voorstelling   En dan…is er Taart !  waarmee hij veel succes behaalde bij de pers.  Tevens maakte hij een korte tournee door het land als solist met de musicalrevue  The Sound of MusicaL  en hij speelde de rol van Scarecrow in de musical  The Wiz.

In 2000 kwam zijn grote droom uit om bij Joop van den Ende Theater produkties in de musical Elisabeth  te spelen, zowel in het ensemble, als twee keer per week in de rol van Rudolf.  Vervolgens kreeg hij de kans om samen te werken met de wereldberoemde Amerikaanse componist  Cy Coleman, aan de wereldpremiere van de musical  Grace , van Maaster Theaterprodukties, waarin hij de rol van priester vertolkte. In 2002 studeerde Jeroen af met zijn tweede solo-voorstelling   I’ll be watching you !  Tijdens het International Musical Congress 2002 in Hamburg, trad hij op in de showcase  Songs of Alexander S. Bermange.

Tijdens zijn grote reis door Australie trad hij op in een musicalconcert van Australian Institute of Music in Sydney, samen met de Nederlandse zangeres/actrice Sophie van Haaps.

In theaterseizoen 2003/2004 was Jeroen te zien in het ensemble en 1e understudy Rolf  in de succesvolle musical  The Sound of Music  van Joop van den Ende Theaterprodukties  in het  Circustheater te Scheveningen en de Stadsschouwburg te Anwerpen.

In 2004 was zijn droom uitgekomen om zijn "West End debuut"  te mogen maken in het ensemble van  The Phantom Of The Opera   in het "Her Majesty's Theatre" te Londen. Eveneens kreeg Jeroen de kans om diverse malen de rol van "Raoul" te vertolken. Dit gaf hem bekendheid bij de Nederlandse pers, waardoor hij o.a. bij "Barend en van Dorp" in de uitzending verscheen.

Na het beëindigen van "Phantom" was Jeroen te zien in "Les Miserables Charity Concert" in "The Festival Hall".  Tevens was hij solist in "YES, a tribute to Kander and Ebb" in  "The Jermyn street Theatre", West End.

Jeroen zal binnenkort wederom op West End als solist te zien zijn in een eenmalig Sondheim concert "Happily ever After" in "The Fortune Theatre" op West End, waarin hij eveneens zal optreden naast grootheden als Broadway legende Barbara Cook.
